The Connally Cadets will face off against the La Vega Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Connally has struggled recently with six losses in a row, while La Vega will arrive with three straight victories.
Things were looking good for Connally after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 27-21 to Lorena. While the Cadets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Leopards 7-0 in the first quarter.

Despite the defeat, Connally got top-tier performance from Braeden Ford, who rushed for 148 yards and three TDs. With that strong performance, Ford is now averaging an impressive 101.9 rushing yards per game.
Even if they lost, Connally's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In that department, Lawrence Carter was the leader with two.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, La Vega beat Robinson 31-27 on Thursday.
La Vega's win came from a few key players Connally will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jabarie Thornton, who picked up 104 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Elbert Jones was another key rusher, rushing for 97 yards on only 13 carries.
La Vega's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Connally, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Connally has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 396 total yards per game. However, it's not like La Vega struggles in that department as they've been averaging 364.9 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
