Football Recap: Ponderosa Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Ponderosa and Durango squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Ponderosa had to settle for second. The contest between the Mustangs and the Demons didn't end well, with the Mustangs falling 35-21. The Mustangs gained 144 more yards on the day, but it was the Demons that made the best use of them.

When it comes to explaining why Ponderosa lost, don't look at Troy WcWhorter. Despite the final result, he rushed for 174 yards and one TD on only 15 carries, and also picked up 99 receiving yards and one touchdown. WcWhorter has become a key player for the Mustangs: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 3-4 otherwise. Derek Niday also helped out with an impressive 93 receiving yards.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 2.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Caden Miller for the heroic effort on defense: he. Ponderosa's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.21 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 5.5 on average over their last five games.

Grady Feeney had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 161 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 44 yards and a pair of scores for Durango. The Demons' leading receiver Sebastian Tripp was Feeney's top target yet again, picking up 39 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Ponderosa dropped their record down to 7-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Durango, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
