Grand Ledge is 2-8 against DeWitt since November of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Comets will host the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Grand Ledge sitting on four straight wins and DeWitt on three.
Grand Ledge is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over East Lansing. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Comets have posted since August 26th.
Grand Ledge took East Lansing into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-27, 15-11.
DeWitt not only won last Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since October 16th (when they won 3-0). They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Okemos.
While DeWitt won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-12, 25-22.
Grand Ledge better keep an eye on Payton Terwilliger. She was instrumental in DeWitt's win, getting 14 digs and five aces. That's the most aces Terwilliger has posted over her last nine contests.
DeWitt was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive matchups.
Grand Ledge's victory bumped their record up to 21-15-2. As for DeWitt, their win bumped their record up to 21-14-1.
Grand Ledge couldn't quite get it done against DeWitt when the teams last played back in October as they fell 3-1. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
