Baseball Game Preview: Fort Myers Green Wave vs. Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons

The Fort Myers Green Wave will square off against the Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Fort Myers 3.9, Charlotte 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Fort Myers proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by eight) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Mariner 4-3. The win was nothing new for the Green Wave as they're now sitting on three straight.

The team relied heavily on Michael Magas, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Madrid Tucker, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Charlotte rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They skirted past the Red Knights 3-2. That's two games straight that the Fightin' Tarpons have won by just one run.

Charlotte's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Adam Lee, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Fort Myers' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Charlotte, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.

Everything went Fort Myers' way against Charlotte in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Fort Myers made off with a 12-5 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Green Wave since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
