Blue Valley Southwest easily dispatched Pembroke Hill on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Blue Valley Southwest fell just short of North Kansas City by a score of 40-37 on Saturday. The game marked the Timberwolves' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Blue Valley Southwest's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lily Unruh, who went 7 for 16 on her way to 14 points, and Kylie Cross, who posted six points in addition to five boards and four steals. Cross is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Mann, who had eight points.
Meanwhile, St. James Academy hadn't done well against Bishop Miege recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. St. James Academy pulled ahead with a 48-47 photo finish over Bishop Miege.
Blue Valley Southwest better focus on containing Regan Becker and Elle Robinson as the pair were huge in St. James Academy's win. Becker dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Robinson went 6 of 9 on her way to 12 points and six rebounds. That's the most rebounds Becker has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Ireland Sullivan, who posted eight points.
St. James Academy pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for Blue Valley Southwest, they moved to 4-1 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Blue Valley Southwest has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like St. James Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.5 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
