Recap: Challis Vikings vs. Mackay Miners
The Challis Vikings's three-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They walked away with a 61-52 victory over Mackay. Challis' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Challis was led to victory by Jacen Farr and Brayden Ollar. Farr scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Ollar scored 18 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Ollar scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ramey Rhoades, who scored 11 points.
Kaizer Summers and Ruger Nicholls certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Summers dropped a double-double on 22 points and 21 rebounds, while Nicholls dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Summers scored a full 42.3% of Mackay's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Even though they lost, Mackay were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Challis only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Challis' victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Mackay, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Challis will challenge Carey at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Carey is on a three-game streak of home losses, Challis a three-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. As for Mackay, they will head out on the road to face off against North Gem at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
