Surry Central skates past Wilkes Central with ease

The Surry Central Golden Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Wilkes Central, posting a 57-30 win at home. The win was nothing new for Surry Central as they're now sitting on four straight.

Surry Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Layla Wall led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Wall has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Presley Smith, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

Surry Central pushed their record up to 9-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.2 points per game. As for Wilkes Central, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Surry Central will head out on the road to challenge Mount Airy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mount Airy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while Surry Central is ranked 131st). As for Wilkes Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Surry at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. East Surry is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
