Softball Game Preview: Castlewood Blue Devils vs. Eastside Spartans

Castlewood is 0-8 against Eastside since April of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Blue Devils will welcome the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Neither Castlewood nor Eastside posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Castlewood's offense. They fell 5-0 to Rye Cove on Tuesday. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Eastside waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Black Raiders get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Spartans have posted against the Black Raiders since April 14, 2022.

Emma Sartin was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Sartin wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dakota Clay, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Clay has snagged this season.

Eastside's win bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Castlewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.
