Payne Tech had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Newark Central on Friday. The Lions blew past the Blue Devils 13-5. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

The win was the fourth in a row for Payne Tech, bringing their record up to 7-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Newark Central, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Coming up, Payne Tech will square off against Golda Och Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Golda Och Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.75 runs per game on average), something Payne Tech will no doubt try to take advantage of.
