Soccer Recap: Gaffney Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Gaffney was not quite Riverside's equal in the second half on Thursday. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, Gaffney can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Riverside are ranked 26th).

This is the second loss in a row for Gaffney and nudges their season record down to 2-15-1. As for Riverside, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-6.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Gaffney will square off against rival Wade Hampton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Riverside is set to take on their familiar foe James F. Byrnes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
