Softball Recap: Lennox Academy Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Oxford Academy, Lennox Academy was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 20-15 win over the Lawndale Cardinals. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ziurell Ruiz was incredible, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Antonella Casillas, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances.

The victory got Lennox Academy back to even at 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lennox Academy will welcome St. Mary's Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lawndale, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cardinals duke it out with the Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lawndale is coming into the contest on an 18-game losing streak dating back to last season.
