Basketball Recap: Corona del Sol Comes Up Short

Corona del Sol was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Xavier College Prep Gators 78-13. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Aztecs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 70-22 back in January.

It was another big night for Irene(Noelle) Guiamatsia, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards for Xavier College Prep. Guiamatsia has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Jayda Lange was another key player, going 5 for 10 en route to 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Corona del Sol's loss dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Xavier College Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Corona del Sol will venture away from home to square off against Sunnyslope at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunnyslope will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Corona del Sol surely won't give up without a fight. As for Xavier College Prep, they will be playing at home against Desert Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Xavier College Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.3 points per game this season.
