Softball Recap: Escondido Takes a Loss

Escondido fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Fallbrook on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 6-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Kendall Workman spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Escondido saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby White, who went 2-for-4 with one double.

Escondido is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12. As for Fallbrook, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-8-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Escondido will square off against Ramona at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Fallbrook, they will challenge Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
