Softball Game Preview: Westview Warriors vs. Fort Wayne North Side Legends

The Westview Warriors will head out to take on the Fort Wayne North Side Legends at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, Westview didn't have quite enough to beat Lakeland and fell 4-3. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Janissa Lehman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Ava Gilbert made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Karlie Schrock, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Fort Wayne North Side was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 16-1 to New Haven.

Fort Wayne North Side saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cadee Ross, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Fort Wayne North Side's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Westview, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Westview took their victory against Fort Wayne North Side in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
