Basketball Recap: Indianapolis Lutheran Falls Short of Greenwood Christian Academy in the Playoffs

Indianapolis Lutheran and Greenwood Christian Academy squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Indianapolis Lutheran had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Greenwood Christian Academy Cougars by a score of 42-40. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 43-37 back in January.

Caitlyn Rose and Amelia Hughes certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Rose went 7-for-9 to rack up 17 points in addition to six boards and three steals, while Hughes posted six points along with five assists and four steals. What's more, Rose also posted a 78% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024.

Even though they lost, Indianapolis Lutheran smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 6.6 offensive boards per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 12.2.

Greenwood Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Myra Finnity, who had eight points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Molly Hunter, who scored nine points along with five boards and three steals.

Indianapolis Lutheran has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. As for Greenwood Christian Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-17.

Indianapolis Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Greenwood Christian Academy, they have already played their next game, a 44-37 defeat against Anderson Prep Academy on the 15th.
