Basketball Game Preview: Orangewood Christian Rams vs. Father Lopez Green Wave

After both having extra time off, the Orangewood Christian Rams and the Father Lopez Green Wave will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Orangewood Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Father Lopez likes a good challenge.

Orangewood Christian took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Friday. They managed a 58-54 victory over Lake Mary Prep.

Meanwhile, Father Lopez came up short against Jupiter last Saturday and fell 66-53. While losing is never fun, the Green Wave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 415th, while the Warriors are ranked 60th).

Father Lopez's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-6. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for Orangewood Christian, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8.

Orangewood Christian was taken down by Father Lopez 85-50 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Orangewood Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
