Baseball Recap: Durango Extends Road Winning Streak to Seven

Durango's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. They never let the Western Warriors get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Trailblazers haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Alexander Mercurius made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayden Shuford, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times he's played. Aiden Farrell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Durango was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .360 or higher in 11 consecutive matches.

Durango's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Western, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8.

Durango will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
