Casey Grove leads Surprise Valley to victory over Big Valley

Recap: Surprise Valley Hornets vs. Big Valley Cardinals

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tulelake, the Surprise Valley Hornets were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They came out on top against Big Valley by a score of 43-33. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 18 to ten on the offensive boards, as Surprise Valley did.

Casey Grove was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Surprise Valley's points. Another player making a difference was Andrew Eichstadt, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and two steals.

Surprise Valley's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7. As for Big Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Surprise Valley will square off against Butte Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Big Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Bethel Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Braden Johnson and Kade Lemke.
