Football Game Preview: Karns City Gremlins vs. Westinghouse Bulldogs

The Karns City Gremlins will head out on the road to challenge the Westinghouse Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Karns City was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Central Clarion [Clarion/Clarion-Limestone/North Clarion] on Friday. The Gremlins were the clear victors by a 35-14 margin over Central Clarion [Clarion/Clarion-Limestone/North Clarion].

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Nathan Hess and Hunter Scherer. Hess rushed for 139 yards and one score on only 13 carries while Scherer rushed for 53 yards and three TDs. Those 139 rushing yards gave Hess a new career-high.

Karns City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 357 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 181 rushing yards in 11 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Karns City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Bryce Galan.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Westinghouse on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Taylor Allderdice out of the water with a 44-16 final score. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won seven in a row.

Westinghouse's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Karns City, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
