Softball Game Preview: North Pitt Panthers vs. Eastern Wayne Warriors

The North Pitt Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Eastern Wayne Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Pitt comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

North Pitt fell victim to SouthWest Edgecombe and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 18-0 to the Cougars.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Eastern Wayne, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They never let Douglas Byrd get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Mallory Reed was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Madaline Womack was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Anderson, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

North Pitt's loss dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Eastern Wayne, their record now sits at 6-7.

North Pitt might still be hurting after the 17-1 defeat they got from Eastern Wayne in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
