Softball Recap: St. Pius X Gets the Win

St. Pius X got themselves on the board against Concordia Lutheran on Thursday, but Concordia Lutheran never followed suit. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Crusaders, sneaking past 1-0. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Crusaders last Monday, they had to take a 10-6 defeat.

Concordia Lutheran's batters probably weren't too happy with Kennedy Flenner 2026, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 17 Ks (she gave up two walks).

On the hitting side, St. Pius X saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Juliana Wooldridge 2026, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Rebecca Balke 2028 also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for St. Pius X and bumps their season record up to 7-8-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Concordia Lutheran, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-6-1.

Coming up, St. Pius X will challenge Incarnate Word Academy on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Concordia Lutheran, they will be playing at home against St. John's at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
