Softball Recap: Seaman Vikings vs. Wamego Red Raiders

Seaman extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 17-7 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wamego Red Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 on Thursday.

Kayleigh Neil and Aubrey Warren stepped up to the plate in a big way. Neil went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Warren went 2-for-4 with one home run. Raegan McConnell was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Wamego, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 6-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games.

On Wamego's side, the team relied heavily on Alana McCarthy, who fired off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI while going 4-for-4. McCarthy also put up two runs, which were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Peyton Hardenberger, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple.

Looking ahead, Seaman will take on Shawnee Heights at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wamego does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
