Independence has gone a perfect 8-0 against Trinity recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Blue Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Independence has three straight victories, Trinity has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Independence's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Cuyahoga Heights with a sharp 10-0 win. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by ten runs or more this season.

Lila Manfredonia made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one triple.
In other batting news, Macey McGhee and Paige Priebe did most of the damage at the plate: McGhee went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Priebe went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Melina Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Independence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cuyahoga Heights only posted a batting average of .062.
Meanwhile, Trinity came up short against Lutheran West on Monday, falling 24-7.
Emily Sunday was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Nia Mckinney, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Independence pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Trinity, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
Trinity's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Independence has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Trinity, though, as they've been averaging only 3 strikeouts. Will Independence keep running through batters, or will the Trojans buck the trend?
Independence took their victory against Trinity when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 21-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
