Basketball Recap: Lee Christian Comes Up Short

It was a Battle of the Birds when Lee Christian challenged Cape Fear Christian Academy on Saturday. The Lee Christian Falcons were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 64-63 to the Cape Fear Christian Academy Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, with their most recent defeat being a 70-48 loss back in January.

Despite the defeat, Lee Christian had strong showings from Justin Brown, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 13 boards, and Daniel Rumbold, who went 6-for-10 en route to 23 points. The matchup was Brown's sixth in a row with at least 15 points. Luke Railo was another key player, putting up six points and five assists.

It was another big night for Caden Scarborough, who went 6-for-10 from beyond the arc to rack up 30 points in addition to eight assists and six rebounds for Cape Fear Christian Academy. That's the most assists Scarborough has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Dunkins, who scored 14 points and eight boards.

Lee Christian's loss dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Cape Fear Christian Academy, their record is now 16-10.

Lee Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cape Fear Christian Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 83-40 defeat against Victory Christian Center on the 18th.
