Basketball Recap: Harrells Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Harrells Christian Academy had lost 11 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-5 to make it 12. They took a blow against the Epiphany Falcons, falling 47-9. The Crusaders lost against the Falcons in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 46-40 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Harrells Christian Academy lost, don't look at Riley Dixon. Despite the final result, she posted five points and nine rebounds. Landry Singletary also deserves some recognition as she posted her first blocks of the season.

As for Epiphany, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-7. They not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since January 28th (when they won 54-8).

Epiphany's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Anna Ponton led the charge by putting up 21 points. The Falcons are 2-1 when Ponton posts 15 or more points, but 0-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Delana Norris, who earned 13 points.

Coming up, Harrells Christian Academy will square off against Rocky Mount Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Epiphany, they will face off against Liberty Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
