Baseball Game Preview: Vineland Fighting Clan vs. Mainland Regional Mustangs

Vineland is 2-7 against Mainland Regional since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Vineland will host Mainland Regional at 4:00 p.m. Mainland Regional took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Vineland, who comes in off a win.

While Vineland's win against Pitman wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Vineland had just enough and edged out Pitman 4-3 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Fighting Clan have posted since April 15, 2024.

Kyle Lamanteer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lamanteer was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Jake Garton looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

Lamanteer wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carlos Santaigo, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Mainland Regional scored the most runs they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Augustine Prep. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Vineland has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs this season. As for Mainland Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4-1.
