Softball Preview: Wekiva Mustangs vs. Dr. Phillips Panthers
Wekiva is 1-9 against Dr. Phillips since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Wekiva Mustangs will look to defend their home field against the Dr. Phillips Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Wekiva is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Wekiva can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 16-1 margin over Central Florida Christian Academy. The win was just what Wekiva needed coming off of a 10-0 loss in their prior contest.
Arianna Garcia and J?adore Thompson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Garcia struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Thompson tossed an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits (she also didn't allow any walks). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive pitching appearances. At the plate, Garcia went 2-for-2 with four RBI, a run, and a double, while Thompson scored two runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-3.
