Basketball Recap: High Point Christian Academy Comes Up Short

High Point Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a blow against the Wesleyan Christian Academy Trojans, falling 76-28. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 385th, while the Trojans are ranked 29th).

Wesleyan Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Blythe Cunningham, who went 9 for 15 en route to 23 points. The dominant performance gave Cunningham a new career-high in points. Sara Kate Carr was another key player, going 8 of 13 on her way to 17 points and four steals.

High Point Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Wesleyan Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. High Point Christian Academy will head out to take on Forsyth Country Day at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Forsyth Country Day will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something High Point Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Wesleyan Christian Academy, they are taking a road trip to square off against Greensboro Day School at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wesleyan Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60 points per game this season.
