Softball Recap: First Christian Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bronson, First Christian was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the Corinth Christian Academy Warriors 7-6. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.

Victoria Loehr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Roniyah Bennett was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times she's played. Ryleigh Sweat was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

First Christian's record is now 11-6. As for Corinth Christian Academy, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 8-6.

Coming up, First Christian will square off against Brunswick Christian Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Corinth Christian Academy will be paying especially close attention to the Lions' contest: after the Lions face off against Hope Christian Academy, they'll take on Corinth Christian Academy again at 5:00 p.m. on May 1.
