Baseball Game Preview: Downey Knights vs. Pitman Pride + Official Tickets

For the second straight game, Downey will face off against Pitman. The Knights will host the Pride at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Downey is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

Downey fell victim to Pitman and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Pride, falling 10-0.

For Pitman's part, Ben Vilhauer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Vilhauer has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nathan Currie-Bennet, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elias Mendez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Downey's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Pitman, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5.
