McCutcheon barely beat West Lafayette the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mavericks blew past the Red Devils 18-7 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won seven in a row.

Kaidynn Peckinpaugh was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Molly Davis was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Mallorie Beutel also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

McCutcheon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

McCutcheon's record is now 4-2. As for West Lafayette, they dropped their record down to 5-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McCutcheon will square off against Benton Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mavericks are facing the Bison at the right time seeing as the Bison are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for West Lafayette, they will take on Western at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Red Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season.
