Baseball Recap: Rivers Comes Up Short

Rivers extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 5-11-1. They fell 3-0 to Brooks. The Red Wings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Brooks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Brooks, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-11. The contest marked their most dominant victory of the season.

For Brooks' part, the result came thanks to Andrew Martin's shutout, as he gave up just four hits.

At the plate, Brooks saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonathan Stokes, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was Stokes' first of the season.

Looking ahead, Rivers will square off against Marianapolis Prep at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Brooks, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Belmont Hill at 3:00 p.m. The Hillies' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Brooks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
