Recap: Grayson County Blue Devils vs. Auburn Eagles
The Grayson County Blue Devils put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Auburn 49-13 on the road. Given Grayson County's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Auburn is ranked 314th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grayson County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Austin Dowell, who threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. Grayson County also got help from Keyshawn Phipps who showed off his sure hands for 132 receiving yards.
Grayson County's win was their eighth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 28.1 points per game. As for Auburn, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Grayson County will be playing in front of their home fans against George Wythe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. George Wythe has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 162 points over their last three games. As for Auburn, they will head out on the road to face off against Eastside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
