Baseball Recap: Wetumka's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Wetumka's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Wewoka Tigers. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Chieftains as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Pat Hebert was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Wetumka is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-13 otherwise. Hebert was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Phillip Ross was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Wetumka is 3-1 when Ross posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-13 otherwise. Dwayne Lowe was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Wetumka's victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Wewoka, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wetumka will welcome Quinton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wewoka, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Maud at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
