The Covington Trojans will venture away from home to square off against the Fountain Central Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Covington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

While Covington didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over Parke Heritage on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Creux Rieman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Covington saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cian Moore, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI Moore has posted since back in May of 2024. Another was AJ Asbury, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Fountain Central didn't have quite enough to beat Covington on Tuesday and fell 5-4. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fountain Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Covington, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.

Covington came out on top in a nail-biter against Fountain Central when the teams last played on Tuesday, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
