Baseball Game Preview: Saltillo Tigers vs. Grenada Chargers

For the second straight game, Saltillo will face off against Grenada. The Tigers will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. Saltillo is coming into the match hot, having won their last 18 games.

Saltillo gave up the first runs last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Grenada by a score of 7-2.

JORDAN EVERS spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on JACK ADAMS, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of COOPER BURLESON, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Saltillo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grenada only posted an OBP of .276.

Saltillo pushed their record up to 19-4 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Grenada, their loss dropped their record down to 14-9.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Saltillo has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Grenada struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
