Softball Preview: Castleberry Lions vs. Burkburnett Bulldogs

The Castleberry Lions will head out to face off against the Burkburnett Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Castleberry is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Castleberry and Springtown meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. Castleberry lost 15-3 to Springtown.

Josselyn Trejo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Burkburnett and Bridgeport had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Burkburnett blew past Bridgeport 9-3 on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Bulls: they've now won seven in a row.

Tatum Winney was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Carlee Winney also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Burkburnett kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bridgeport only managed three hits.

Castleberry's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15-1. As for Burkburnett, their record now sits at 8-15.

Castleberry couldn't quite get it done against Burkburnett when the teams last played back in February of 2017 as they fell 6-2. Can Castleberry avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
