Softball Recap: Purchase Line's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Purchase Line had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They won by a run and slipped past the Marion Center Stingers 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Red Dragons have posted since March 27th.

Rylee Mahaffey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Purchase Line's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Alorra Phillips, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Purchase Line now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Marion Center, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-2.

Looking ahead, Purchase Line will square off against United at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Red Dragons are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a 16-game losing streak. As for Marion Center, they will face off against Bishop McCort at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
