Softball Recap: Homestead Highlanders vs. West Bend West Spartans
Homestead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Bend West Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Highlanders of the 10-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.
Homestead got a good showing from Stella Leaman, who struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, Homestead saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Faucett, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Emmy Sehnert was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Homestead's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for West Bend West, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Homestead will take on rival West Bend East at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, West Bend West is set to challenge their familiar foe Hartford at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
