Basketball Recap: Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Comes Up Short

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Asheville School (Independent) Blues 64-37. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Blues earlier this season, when they won 55-50.

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayla Frasz, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmie Moore, who had 12 points.

Asheville School (Independent) got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maya Robinson out in front who went 9 for 10 on her way to 19 points and seven rebounds. Those 19 points gave Robinson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryann Hernandez, who went 7 of 13 en route to 17 points along with five boards and five steals.

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Asheville School (Independent), their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-4.

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee will host Legion Collegiate Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Rabun Gap-Nacoochee is facing Legion Collegiate Academy at the right time seeing as Legion Collegiate Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Asheville School (Independent), they will venture away from home to face off against Carolina Day at 5:00 p.m. on February 6th.
