Preview: FAU High Owls vs. Boca Raton Christian Blazers
The FAU High Owls will be home for the holidays to greet the Boca Raton Christian Blazers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. FAU High is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
FAU High pushed their score all the way to 62 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 70-62 to Sports Leadership & Management.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Samuel Joseph, who scored 32 points along with seven rebounds. He scored a full 51.6% of FAU High's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Sauveur , who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Boca Raton Christian didn't have too much trouble with Glades Day at home on Wednesday as they won 58-42.
Boca Raton Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joshua Good led the charge by scoring 17 points along with five steals. The game was Good's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Jack Good was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with four steals.
FAU High's loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-9. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Boca Raton Christian, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-4.
FAU High won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in January of 2020, slipping by Boca Raton Christian 52-51. Will FAU High repeat their success, or does Boca Raton Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
