Football Recap: Lewisville Farmers vs. Mansfield Summit Jaguars
Lewisville gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They breezed by the Mansfield Summit Jaguars at home to the tune of 51-7. Given the Farmers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Jaguars are ranked 148th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lewisville found their leader in underclassman Tre Williams, who threw for 284 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per attempt. Tenel Hill helped Williams out on the ground, rushing for 84 yards and a touchdown.
Lewisville's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Aiden Evans and Taelyn Mayo. Another thorn in Mansfield Summit's side was Rhyan Sewell, who made six total tackles (3.0 for loss) which he returned for a touchdown.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Lewisville was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 449 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mansfield Summit only gained 184.
Lewisville will square off against Byron Nelson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mansfield Summit, they will be defending their home-field for the first time this season they go up against Mansfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
