Baseball Game Preview: West Panthers vs. Hunter Wolverines

The West Panthers will challenge the Hunter Wolverines at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. West has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with six straight defeats, while Hunter will come in with three straight victories.

West came up short against Taylorsville on Friday, falling 13-3.

West saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominic Lindsley, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Hunter hadn't done well against Granger recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wolverines had just enough and edged out the Lancers 11-10.

Brendan Brito made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Brito was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Francom, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Gerald Cochran was another key player, earning two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Hunter's win bumped their record up to 4-18. As for West, their loss dropped their record down to 2-20.

West beat Hunter 7-3 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
