Baseball Recap: Evergreen Lutheran Comes Up Short

After soaring to 12 runs the game before, Evergreen Lutheran was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They fell 7-2 to the Quilcene Rangers. The Eagles have struggled against the Rangers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Wyett Webster was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

Evergreen Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Quilcene, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Evergreen Lutheran will challenge Darrington at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Quilcene, they will face off against Muckleshoot Tribal at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
