Softball Recap: Southeast Pirates vs. LaBrae Vikings

If Southeast was riding high off their 13-4 takedown of Garfield last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Southeast Pirates took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the LaBrae Vikings on Friday. Southeast was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as LaBrae apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

For LaBrae's part, Riley Rowe was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Rowe has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Rowe was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Mariah Jones was incredible, going 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and a double. Nalena Page was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Southeast's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for LaBrae, they pushed their record up to 20-7 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Southeast will take on Streetsboro at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Streetsboro is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season. As for LaBrae, they will be playing at home against South Range at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. LaBrae's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so South Range's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
