Softball Game Preview: Liberty Lions vs. College Park Falcons

The Liberty Lions will challenge the College Park Falcons at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Liberty fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against San Ramon Valley last Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 3-2.

Kate Skinner spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Liberty saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Jennings, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, College Park lost 15-3 to California on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Grizzlies: they've now lost four in a row.
