Softball Recap: Lake Travis Comes Up Short at Home Against Liberty Hill

Lake Travis unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Liberty Hill Panthers by a score of 9-7 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cavaliers have suffered since February 24, 2024.

Regan Moore and Haley Whitefield did some serious damage despite the final result: Moore went a perfect3-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Whitefield went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles Whitefield has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamdyn Ingram, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Lake Travis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in five consecutive games dating back to last season.

The victory got Liberty Hill back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Lake Travis will square off against Johnson at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Liberty Hill, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Harlingen South at 1:30 p.m.
