Baseball Recap: Union County's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Union County got their first taste of in-conference action on Thursday and they started things off strong. They came out on top against the Union City Indians by a score of 7-4. For the Patriots, this counts as revenge for the 7-6 win the Indians walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Cam Salsbery was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dalton Creech, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Union County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union City only posted an OBP of .344.

Union County's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11. As for Union City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Union County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 16-0 defeat against Knightstown on the 10th. As for Union City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 14-6 win against Randolph Southern on the 10th.
