Volleyball Recap: Juneau-Douglas' Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Juneau-Douglas waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Ketchikan Kings. That's the fifth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 3-0 victory two weeks ago.

Juneau-Douglas' offense was headlined by Gwen Nizich and Lavinia Ma'Ake, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Liliane Veikosa and her 12 assists. Finally, Nizich was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Juneau-Douglas' win bumped their record up to 12-1-4. As for Ketchikan, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Juneau-Douglas didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Kenai Central on the 20th. Hopefully Ketchikan paid attention to the Crimson Bears' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Crimson Bears at 7:00 p.m. on October 17.
