Carrollwood Day is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They skirted past Berkeley Prep 5-4. The win was nothing new for the Patriots as they're now sitting on three straight.
Carrollwood Day got a great performance from Nick Riedel as he struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Riedel has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Steven Vargo, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Earle, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Tampa Catholic posted their closest victory since March 19th on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over Bishop McLaughlin Catholic.
Talan Miranda tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Jose Carrero was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Dominic Woodward, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Carrollwood Day's victory bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Tampa Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 19-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Carrollwood Day has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Tampa Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
